A Gypsy Moment ~Old Fashioned Laundry Soap Power That Is Truly Green

This Laundry Soap Is Green And Efficient

Our soaps are caustic and are harmful to the body. They are full of chemicals. Our families have rashes and allergies galore and still we buy these soaps that full of chemicals to make us sick. What if there was a better way? Would you give it a try? Our parents did not have all these allergies and rashes over the body. Could it be they lived a little closer to nature?

There are many good quality products on the market that will clean your clothes without all the added chemicals. They are good and they work, but......they come with a hefty price tag.  So lets go back to the basics. Let's try making our soap the way grandma did! Are you willing to give it a try?

GRANDMA'S BASIC LAUNDRY POWDER
(works best in warm or hot wash water)

INGRIDIENTS:

½ cup soap flakes or grated plain bar soap ( Near the washing soda is usually a yellow washing bar, a pink washing bar, and a white goat soap bar. Experiment with all three till you find the one you like)
½ cup borax
½ cup washing soda

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Combine ingredients well, and store in a jar or can with an airtight lid. (I found mine at Walmart.com for just over 10.00.) You can also use any pretty airtight glass jar.
2. Use ½ to 1 tablespoon per load. For really soiled or work clothes, I use about 1/8 to 1/4 cup.

Note: I will share an old recipe for those who prefer liquid soap next. It also, is easy as pie!
